An ophthalmologist is the medical professional that specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of eye problems, including injuries and diseases.

You can find your ophthalmologist or preferential clinic by accessing the Healthcare Provider List, and filtering by specialism (ophthalmology, children’s ophthalmology). If you are an insured party of Adeslas, you can request an appointment directly with your selected ophthalmologist or with your nearest centre.  

According to your Adeslas Heath insurance policy, you can consult the details of the coverage of this specialism in the general terms and conditions of your policy available in your private area. Herein, you can find different coverage such as:

  • Retinography.
  • Optical coherence tomography.
  • Orthoptics and pleoptics.
  • Treatment of macular degeneration associated with age as a result of photodynamic therapy or the intravítreal injection of drugs (in this case, the costs of the drugs used will be met by the insured party)
  • Photocoagulation through laser therapy.

Corrective surgery for short-sightedness, hyperopia or astigmatism and presbyopia and any other refractive eye pathology are excluded.

 

Surgical implants and prostheses

Consult the Adeslas Health insurance policies included in your coverage (implants and ophthalmological prostheses, such as intraocular lenses (monofocal and bifocal) to correct aphacia following cataract surgery (excluding toric lenses, extended range monofocals, EDOF (extended depth of focus) lenses, trifocals and other lenses with added visual correction).
